Elise Lemire is Professor of Literature at Purchase College, SUNY. A recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Doris and Carl Kempner Distinguished Professorship, Elise Lemire’s third book, Battle Green Vietnam: The March on Concord, Lexington, and Boston, was just published by the University of Pennsylvania Press. She is also the author of Black Walden: Slavery and Its Aftermath in Concord, Massachusetts and “Miscegenation”: Making Race in American, both supported by fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities and published by the University of Pennsylvania Press.
