Unai Montes-Irueste is a writer, narrative strategist, and communications executive whose work explores democracy, identity, history, and the stories that shape public life. For more than two decades, he has helped labor unions, nonprofits, elected officials, and grassroots organizations build public power through strategic communications, organizing, and narrative change. Born to undocumented parents who were deported, he spent part of his childhood in Mexico and much of his adolescence navigating the U.S. immigration system — experiences that continue to inform his writing. He studied Government and Latin American & Caribbean Studies at Dartmouth College, earned an MBA from Brandeis University, and now drives his wife and three kids around in a hybrid minivan.
